Refinishing
Hardwood flooring can show it's age over time - just like any other! It is timeless however because it can be sanded down and refinished like no time has passed. Hardwood flooring has changed through the decades and might look different depending on what you have.
We offer top-of-the-line finishing products, it doesn't pay to use the cheaper alternatives. When we started this business in 2007, we vowed to look for environmentally responsible products as well as health conscious choices. Our top choice for quality, low or no VOC (volatile organic compounds) is in the Bona waterbourne finishing systems. Our air is important and your floors don't need to off-gas into your homes for weeks like the older oil and solvent finishes. We even meet the air care standards of California - notorious for their high standards. Click the images to see all the possibilities!

One might think that refinishing your floors would be a messy, incovenient process but.... drumroll.... it's not with us! We specialize in dustless hardwood flooring sanding. Our equipment was purchased so all the sanding the equipment is specially adapted to a dust containment system that is VERY effective. Many clients have marveled over the results. Beyond the mess, we contain the chemical systems that we are sanding off your floor so you aren't breathing in/eating the particles.
Some prefinished wood floors contain an aluminum oxide finish which when airbourne is known to cause airway irritation and more (with chronic exposure). Here's a link to the MSDS safety sheet for aluminum oxide. This chemical compound is also used for sandblasting for it's tough abrasive quality. Be sure you find a flooring professional with a dust-containment system!
Current trends with contractors have moved to installing a prefinished wood floor as they are quicker to install and move on with the rest of the building project. You can recognize these by the beveled edges that are intended to hide any inconsistencies in the height of the flooring planks so they don't turn into toe stubbers. Traditionally, hardwood flooring has been installed as a raw wood product and sanded and finished for a seamless, flat finish. Both types of flooring can be refinished! If you had a beveled prefinished floor, the bevels will disappear with sanding leaving you with the seamless appearance (also easier to keep clean).
We can refinish many types of hardwood flooring:
-
top-nailed strip flooring (you will see nails visibly)
-
3/4" solid hardwood (either site or prefinished)
-
engineered hardwood (can often get 1-2 sandings depending on product)
